Statistics

Although I haven't found it any easier than any other math class that I have taken in the past, I enjoy Statistics for the fact that it is applicable to everyday life. Often times during class, I find that my mind is turning over so quickly, because I am connecting the lesson with my experiences (application: this is how I learn best)- I tend to lose focus! (Does this happen to you too??)

Another way that I try to make connections between the material I learn in school with everyday life is through Media. Freakonomics is a great movie that ties some fundamentals of statistics with interesting topics like Incentives, Cheating, Given Name in Correlation to Destiny, Abortion, Parenting, Motivation, Socio-economic patterns and so on. Also, another one of my favorites is writer and journalist Malcolm Gladwell who has written some pretty juicy books that have roots in statistics- some of his notable works include The Tipping Point, Blink, and Outliers
