Blossoming

The Rhody's on the side of our house have just blossomed.. or maybe I've just now noticed :)
I propagated these roses in fall of '10 - which didn't bloom last summer- but this year looks promising!
You can see here where part of the root had died and then regrew.
My hope is that someday it completely covers the arbor- don't you think it'd look real pretty?
I'm excited for the warm summer nights when I can come out to the backyard and turn these lights on- what's your little oasis at home look like?
I also went to the back to check on my dwarf hybrid apple tree- which I bought from Costco a few months ago. I think I waited too long to plant it and it just might not blossom this year. I pruned it just as this nice stranger lady, who helped me pick it out, told me to. She said it would bloom from where I had cut it, but as you can see here, that part seems to have died. I'm wondering if I did it wrong. I guess all I can do now is just wait and hope for the best!
