This is me in front of the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, otherwise known as the Duomo.
Dubbed by Michaelangelo as the "Gates of Paradise"- the east doors of the Florence Baptistery or Battistero di San Giovanni (Baptistery of St. John)
This picture was taken just outside our room at the Archi Rossi Hostel. I highly recommend this place. The walls of the common areas such as hallways, stairways, etc. are covered with signatures, drawings, marks from past guests. Right before we left, I was able to find some space in one of the hallways on the first floor. I drew up a quick sketch of the space needle and the girls and I signed our names beside it. It'd be cool to see it when I come back :) - If you happen to stay there and see it, please do send me a pic! I'd love that! Funny enough we did find some familiar names on the wall of people that we knew from back home!
The Duomo at night. It was still beautiful, but a bit eerie!
and once again the Gates of Paradise, at night.
The faux David outside the  Piazza della Signoria
I like the puffy coat on the right!
Breakfast and dinner were included during our stay at the Archi Rossi Hostel. The food that they served were staples like spaghetti bologna, carbonara, lasagna, pizza, etc.- but still very good!
Emmi cheesing in front of the Duomo
One of the many outside vendors selling leather bags, jewelry and everything in between!
Me along the Ponte Vecchio
Along the Ponte Vecchio Bridge are small fine jewelry shops, which have unique pieces and gold at much better prices than what'd you find in the US. I would definitely save my money for this part of the trip- in Florence Round 2.
A beautifully detailed mask that was being sold outside one of the many piazzas!
The antique carousel of the Picci family, located in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica
